Whiskey Town Lake – Kokanee Salmon – Exhibiting Kopapod Parasite Infection

Whiskey Town Lake is completely wide open!

The fishing is red hot with early limits coming daily between 65-25 feet.

Trolling slow 1.2-1.4 mph have been my best speeds I catch my fish on Paulina peak(ppt) tackle pink orange and chartreuse. Short leaders tipped with some good old corn is the ticket!

This year we are experiencing a heavy kopapod year a kopapod is a parasite that lives on the skin of the fish. They don’t harm the meat but are unappealing and cause the fish to produce extra slime. The best thing we can do is keep catching them! We may see a higher bag limit and we all need to do our part to thin our Kokanee population. Hope you guys can break away and fill your freezer with some salmon!
