Lake Shasta is fishing great!
My fishing reports for Lake Shasta are short. I provide a very brief fishing report including poor or good fishing, a hot lure, the fish we are finding, weather, and a forecast of what to expect on Lake Shasta over the next 4 to 6 weeks.
Fishing has been good!
Shad are just starting to show up in the main body of Shasta Lake. What does that mean? Well, where there’s shad we find concentrations of feeding fish like kokanees, rainbow trout, and brown trout. The idea is to fill the cooler with a limit of these tasty fish. Not Shad though.
For now, I’m finding fish, but they are scattered around the vastness of Lake Shasta. So we are on the move a lot, fishing, searching, catching, repeat. Which is kinda a plus for sight seeing.
I might find 5 fish, or 20.
Currently, I’m fishing at a depth of 15-70 feet.
Lures include small spoons. To get them down it’s downriggers, planner boards. Trolling speed is about 2.5 mph.
I expect good fishing through out the next few weeks. Typically, we experience great fishing throughout the summer on Lake Shasta.
Bring your sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and lets fish!
